Dates announced for the North Ronaldsay Sheep Festival 2018
This year’s North Ronaldsay Sheep Festival will take place between the 29th July and the 10th of August 2018. Join this year’s festival for a celebration of culture and conservation – in true North Ronaldsay style!
The annual North Ronaldsay Sheep Festival provides Sheepdyke building/repair sessions to volunteers, under the guidance of local experts, to help restore a very special structure. The North Ronaldsay Sheepdyke is said to be the longest dry-stone structure in the world, it runs approximately 13 miles along the shoreline of the island, separating the foreshore from rich inland grazing. Not only will the festival host dyking sessions, there will be a range of exciting activities for all the family!
The deadline for applying for a subsidised, dyke building, place is Monday the 30th of April. However anyone is welcome to sign up to volunteer for the 2018 festival at any time. For more information visit the North Ronaldsay Sheep Festival website. www.nrsheepfestival.com
